Restoration projects
The Fabergé Arts Foundation is currently working with the administration of St. Petersburg to identify several important architectural monuments for restoration. Once FAF and the city have come to agreement on these landmarks, FAF will begin to raise funds and awareness for their restoration. Projects under discussion include further work on the Mikhailovsky Garden wrought iron fence, a prominent footbridge on the Moika River, stained glass windows in a notable mansion, a Moika Embankment palace, and work on a prominent city park. For more information, or to see how you can help with the restoration of these monuments, please e-mail Faberge_Arts@verizon.net.
Exhibitions
The Fabergé Menagerie
In 2003-2004, the Fabergé Arts Foundation, in cooperation with the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, toured an exciting family-oriented exhibition based on Fabergé’s carved stone animals. These delightful artistic creations in semi-precious hardstone and precious gems were accompanied by a section of other types of Fabergé works and other pieces of decorative arts in hardstone. The exhibition opened at the Walters Art Museum on February 13, 2003 during Baltimore’s Russian arts festival, VIVAT! St. Petersburg. The dates for the exhibition were:
- Walters Art Museum, Baltimore: February 13, 2003 – July 27, 2003
- Columbus (OH) Museum of Art: October 12, 2003 – January 4, 2004
- Portland (OR) Art Museum: February 8, 2004 – May 2, 2004
Smoking Papers
An extraordinary collection of Russian cigarette wrappers dating from 1895 to 1950 forms "Smoking Papers: A History of Russian Culture, 1895-1950". The group of 432 designs, culled from the extensive graphic art collection of writer-curator Barnaby Conrad III, vividly portrays five turbulent decades of the Russian experience - from the last years of the Czarist era to the socialist triumph of the Sputnik launch. FAF is currently looking for sponsors and venues in the United States and internationally for this extraordinary exhibition.
